Paris-born, Montreal-raised pianist won the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Bruce Liu Plays Prokofiev at the Orpheum on May 30 and 31 at 8 pm as part of the Masterworks Gold series, and June 1 at 2 pm as part of RGF Integrated Wealth Management Symphony Sundays.

Liu, winner of the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, joins maestro Otto Tausk to perform Prokofiev’s scintillating Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major. Born in Paris and raised in Montréal, Liu is an active recitalist who has performed at major concert halls around the world, including the BOZAR in Brussels, Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie de Paris, and Tokyo Opera City.

The program also includes two other works. Join the orchestra on an exhilarating expedition up a mountain summit in Richard Strauss’s colossal An Alpine Symphony; and dive into Swim, an invigorating work by London-based Canadian composer Cassandra Miller.
