The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven’s Ninth: “Ode to Joy” at the Orpheum on June 6 and 7 at 8 pm, as part of the Assante Vancouver Centre Masterworks Diamond Series.

Join maestro Otto Tausk and the VSO in one of the most uplifting works ever created, Beethoven’s triumphant Symphony No. 9. The performance will include four special guests—soprano Charlotte Siegel, mezzo-soprano Rihab Chaieb, tenor Matthew Cairns, and bass-baritone Gordon Bintner—along with the Vancouver Bach Choir.

The program also features Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma in the North American premiere of Danish composer Thomas Agerfeldt Olesen’s Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the VSO and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

Lamsma will host a violin masterclass on June 4 at Pyatt Hall, during which the celebrated performer will coach advanced young violinists in front of an audience. More information can be found through the VSO School of Music.

Tickets to Beethoven’s Ninth: “Ode to Joy” are available through the VSO.
