The Dance Centre celebrates International Dance Day in Vancouver, April 27 and 29

Program features Vanessa Goodman/Action at a Distance, Dance//Novella, Karen Jamieson Dance, and more

The Dance Centre is offering a vibrant program on April 27 and 29 in celebration of International Dance Day. Events take place at the Scotiabank Dance Centre and 800 Robson Plaza.

Among the highlights is a live activation of Vanessa Goodman/Action at a Distance’s between the landings; the innovative stairs-inspired installation is on display at the Scotiabank Dance Centre until April 30.

More works in store on the program include Karen Jamieson Dance’s film Gluk, which examines the groundbreaking B.C. tour of Stone Soup (1995-97), and Dance//Novella’s Chrysalis, a piece for an ensemble of emerging artists. Kay Huang/Crossmaneuver, soma anima arts, Inverso Productions/Lesley Telford, and Justine A. Chambers are also taking part.

Initiated in 1982 by UNESCO, International Dance Day is marked annually on April 29 with events across Canada and around the world.
