Arts Umbrella will soon launch its roster of annual Summer Dance Intensives, with several programs specifically for young artists on the calendar.

The inaugural ISDI2 intensive—which recognizes the need for dancers in Grade 6, 7, and 8 to experience a purposefully challenging program—will run from July 21 to August 1. The program includes movement exploration, dance technologies, repertoire, body conditioning, and improvisation. Coaching and mentorship will empower dancers for the rigorous years of professional training ahead.

The Junior Summer Dance Intensive for Grades 2 to 7 is one of the few intensive summer programs for younger dancers in Metro Vancouver. And the Teen Summer Dance Intensive for Grades 8 and up helps teen dancers develop and maintain abilities. Both programs run from July 7 to 11 and 14 to 18; alongside ballet, classes may include character, modern, repertoire, hip hop, and jazz.
