Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi team up with jazz artists for the KW Production Studio show

Kokoro Dance will perform with jazz musicians Tony Wilson (guitar), Joe Williamson (bass), and Kai Basanta (drums) on January 13 at 8 pm at KW Production Studio.

Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi are rekindling the kind of show audiences may have caught this past winter, when the Kokoro cofounders danced to music by Wilson, Basanta, and Peggy Lee. Or maybe local viewers caught the dancing duo at the Glass Slipper in 1991, performing with the Kane-Taylor Explosion (Wilson, Daniel Miles Kane on saxophone, and Stan Taylor on drums).

It’s a chance for arts lovers to catch Williamson, a former Vancouverite who left to pursue a musical career in Europe in 1992; he’s now based in Sweden.

Tickets are $10 or $15 (or pay what you can at the door). Drinks by donation. Doors will open at 7:30 pm.

The KW Production Studio is located in the Woodward's Heritage Building (111 West Hastings Street ).
