Devours and Parlour Panther headline Pride Summer Sounds concert, August 1

Vancouver Civic Theatres’ free outdoor music series features the two local acts as part of 2024 Pride celebrations

Vancouver Civic Theatres presents Summer Sounds with Devours and Parlour Panther on August 1 at 4:30 pm on šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn (formerly known as the QET Plaza)

 

VANCOUVER CIVIC THEATRES is partying for Pride, with its next Summer Sounds concert featuring local electronic artist Devours and indie-rock band Parlour Panther.  

The stage name of Vancouver-based artist Jeff Cancade, Devours has released four acclaimed underground albums, including the Polaris Prize-longlisted Homecoming Queen. Their electronic music delves into body image, masculinity, gay love, and the darker side of queer existence. They have toured across Canada and the U.S. and will be releasing another album in 2025.

 
 

Parlour Panther is made up of Saadi D’Hoore on synth and guitar, Jen Foster on drums, and Frankie and Lee—a trans non-binary couple who have been making music together for a decade, and who contribute song arrangements and lyrics and vocals respectively. The indie-rock band has performed at Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Edge of the World Music Festival, ArtsWells, and Vancouver Pride Festival.

The concert will be followed by a summer art party with VCT’s visual-art exhibitions in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre lobbies.
