The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Schubert’s Third Symphony with Italian conductor and pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell at Centennial Theatre on January 18 at 8 pm as part of the North Shore Classics series, and at Bell Performing Arts Centre on January 19 at 7 pm as part of the Surrey Nights series.

Mosell is making her VSO debut with a program tailored to her distinctive passion. She will bring to life French composer Philippe Schoeller’s Sereno Sole in its North American premiere alongside Bartók’s playful Divertimento for Strings. The program will also feature Schubert’s exuberant Symphony No. 3; written months after the composer’s 18th birthday, the work pulses with youthful optimism.

Mosell will be hosting a piano masterclass for advanced young pianists at Pyatt Hall on January 15. Viewers can choose to watch in person or virtually through the VSO’s live-streaming portal.
