Studio 58 launches Audio Play Showcase, to December 11
In a first, final-year students bring “theatre of the mind” to the airwaves

Vancouver comic-book artist and illustrator Josué Menjivar created illustrations to get Studio 58 students thinking of topics for audio plays.
Studio 58’s Audio Play Showcase runs until December 11 online.
DESPITE THE TOUGH times we’re living in, creativity just keeps coming from Studio 58. In addition to mounting Theatre: The Play (see details here), students in their final year at Langara’s professional theatre-training program have made a showcase of audio plays.
Local comic-book artist and illustrator Josué Menjivar created a series of illustrations specifically to inspire the students and act as jumping-off points for the works.
With playwright Aaron Bushkowsky and voice actor and director Colin Murdock as mentors, the students wrote, acted in, recorded, edited, and directed the audio plays—or “theatre of the mind”.
Countdown to New Year’s, Karl Barx's Ruff Night Show, P.I.N.K, Future Space, and Summer School, are available for listening on SoundCloud via studio58.ca until December 11.
