Railtown Entertainment presents Queer as Funk on July 30 at 7 pm at the Commodore Ballroom
QUEER AS FUNK kicks off Vancouver Pride 2022 with a comeback to the Commodore Ballroom after a two-year pandemic hiatus.
During its seven-year history, the eight-piece party and cover band has performed its fusion of funk, soul, and Motown at hundreds of community and non-profit events across B.C. and headlined a sold-out Commodore Ballroom for Pride for three consecutive years. In 2020, the group—which comprises Connie Buna and Jocelyn MacDougall on vocals, Alison Gorman on trumpet, Catherine Hiltz on bass, Allan “Soulman” Ollivierre on keys, Luis “Babyface” Melgar on trombone, guitarist Marc Van Rosi, and drummer Ian Cardona—created a series of four videos through a Creative BC grant.
Joining the group for this year’s Pride performance are soul singer Dawn Pemberton and DJ Slade.
