VIFF Talks presents Daniel Minahan at 6 pm on June 24
IF YOU’VE BEEN escaping pandemic purgatory through the ultrasuede looks, Studio 54 parties, and Liza Minnelli hangouts in Netflix’s Halston mini-series, you might want to tune into the latest virtual VIFF Talks Creator Talk on Thursday.
That’s when Daniel Minahan, director and executive producer of the series starring Ewan McGregor (who is clearly having a blast in the lead role of the famed fashion designer), is the featured guest. He’ll shed light on the passion project, one that took 20 years to bring to the screen—complete with the story that took the iconic designer from dreary Midwestern upbringing to fashion-runway glamour, and, late in life, branding blunders and, tragically, AIDS.
As always, VIFF Talks are free. Canadian director Zach Lipovsky hosts.
