Chor Leoni brings PopCappella 3D to the Rio Theatre, March 7 to 9

Program blends pop-music choral arrangements with immersive 3D visuals

Award-winning choral group Chor Leoni will bring its unique pop music choral experience, PopCappella 3D, to the Rio Theatre from March 7 to 9.

Known as Vancouver’s singing lions, the choir will add power and harmony to some of the world’s biggest hits, joined by a team of the city’s finest musicians. The performances will feature songs by U2, Leonard Cohen, K.D. Lang, The Supremes, and more, all set against 3D film projections and immersive lighting.

Some of the iconic songs on the program, arranged for choir and a full band, include “Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip, and “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. The concert will also feature 10 choral-arrangement premieres, including Jake Levesque’s heartfelt “Somebody Loves You”, commissioned by Chor Leoni community member Sean Murch, as a tribute to his late teacher’s legacy.
