Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Nutcracker returns to Ballet BC this holiday season

Famed Tchaikovsky ballet with added Canadian elements lands in Vancouver from December 13 to 15 and—for the first time—Surrey on November 23 and 24

Ballet BC announces the return of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s renowned production of Nutcracker to the West Coast. The uniquely Canadian rendition of this iconic story will be performed at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre from December 13 to 15, and for the first time ever, at Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre on November 23 and 24.

Set to an enchanting Tchaikovsky score, this captivating story follows the adventures of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince. Choreographed by Galina Yordanova and Nina Menon, the production features a cast of 40 dancers adorned in more than 250 costumes designed by Paul Daigle. Scenic designer Brian Perchaluk skillfully transforms the stage into a winter wonderland.

In conveying a traditional Canadian winter experience, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet famously adds its own distinct elements to Nutcracker, from a hockey game on a snowy pond to a battle on Parliament Hill.
