Arts Umbrella Dance Company presents Mixed Nuts, a modern and engaging twist on Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, at the Vancouver Playhouse on December 13 at 7 pm, December 14 at 2 pm and 7 pm, and December 15 at 2 pm.
Performed annually by the company each winter, Mixed Nuts brings together a flavoursome assortment of dance styles for an extra-special holiday treat. Classical ballet meets everything from hip hop to ballroom to contemporary while saving room for such favourite scenes as the Sugar Plum Fairy pas de deux.
Led by artistic director Artemis Gordon since 1992, Arts Umbrella Dance Company is a pre-professional training program whose graduates can be found dancing for companies around the world, including Kidd Pivot, Nederlands Dans Theater II, Ballet BC, and more.
Mixed Nuts is generously supported by Tom Ferries and Lisa Pankratz.
Tickets to the show and more details are available through Arts Umbrella.
